Some trees have to come down.

Felling is the last resort, and we'll say so if there's a better option. But a dead conifer against the house, a split trunk or roots lifting the drive are not things to live with.

How we do it

Survey and permissions

We look at the tree, what's under it and how we'll get the wood out. Preservation orders and conservation areas apply to felling too, so we check.

Fell or dismantle

With space, a straight fell is quickest. Near buildings the climber works down from the top, cutting sections that are rigged and lowered.

Rig and lower

Every section on a rope through a block, controlled from the ground. Nothing free-falls near a house.

Stump and clear-up

Grind the stump below the surface, or leave it if you'd rather. Logs and chip left or taken away.

Do I need permission to fell a tree in my garden?+

A felling licence isn't needed for trees in a garden, but a preservation order or a conservation area still applies. We check the council's map before we quote.

What happens to the stump?+

Your choice. Most people have it ground out so they can lawn or plant over it. We can leave it cut low if you'd rather.

Can you fell near a house?+

Near a house we don't fell, we dismantle. The tree comes down in sections small enough to lower on a rope. Slower, but nothing lands where it shouldn't.
