A wide, tree-lined high street, period houses with long gardens, and countryside running right up to the back fence.
Tenterden
Tenterden's broad High Street, with its grass verges and trees, is a big part of why the town is called the Jewel of the Weald. St Mildred's church tower rises above it, and steam trains on the Kent & East Sussex Railway still run from the town's station.
Behind the frontages, many properties have long, narrow gardens with old walls, mature trees and formal hedges of yew and beech. That means a lot of the work happens a long way from the road, with everything carried back out through the property.
Beyond the centre, the vineyards and orchards around the town are sheltered by tall hedges and windbreaks, and the edge of the High Weald brings bigger oaks and more woodland.

Ashford Borough Council
Tenterden is in Ashford borough, so Ashford Borough Council deals with its preservation orders and its conservation area, which takes in the High Street and much of the old town. If your tree is inside it, we give the six weeks' notice; if it has an order, we make the application. We'll tell you which applies when we quote.
